NEW OPPORTUNITY FOR INJURED ATHLETES - Blog

WHERE DO YOU GO FIRST WHEN INJURED?

HOW DO YOU GET PEACE OF MIND?

WHAT’S THE RIGHT THING TO DO?

We’ve had so many athletes and parents talk with our Physical Therapists and staff over the years about just not being sure what to do when first injured.  For those who have an Athletic Trainer at their school they have potential access to a skilled professional who’s there to help.  But many tell us their schedules don’t coincide or the ATC just isn’t at school enough or they may go to a Junior High and no ATC is available.  Others say it will be days or a week before their Doctor can see them.  Some just know it’s a minor injury and don’t know if they should wait it out a few days, get X-rays just to make sure, see a Doctor, or start up Physical Therapy so they can speed up a recovery.

DIRECT ACCESS to Physical Therapy is definitely an option.  But that’s a full blown hour long evaluation and sometimes that may take a few days to schedule.  For many athletes and parents or coaches they’re just looking for a quick check and first suggestions for how to proceed in those early hours or days.

The fact is that athletes hate getting and being hurt.  Parents and coaches alike also can’t stand seeing their young athletes dealing with injury.  But so many don’t know what the next right step really is.

PEAK PERFORMANCE Physical Therapy & Sports Training is proud to announce we officially now offer a Sports Injury Screening to our area grade school, high school, and college athletes.  This will provide athletes and their families access to a skilled professional who can help them feel some peace of mind and give some direction to those first hours or days after an injury.  One of our skilled Physical Therapists will do a screening on your young athlete to help determine the potential level of urgency for needing more immediate medical workup vs the majority of cases that will tend to fall into categories of needing to rest and ice, follow up with the school ATC, see a Doctor for further testing and decision making,  or in some cases to begin formal Physical Therapy via Direct Access.  The aim is to offer a quick, easy, inexpensive, professional option to help get the injured athlete on the path to recovery sooner rather than later.

Give us a call at 218-0240 to come in and have one of our Physical Therapists spend about a 15 minute visit with your young athlete to do a Sports Injury Screening for only $25.
