  1. I initially injured my knee a few years ago and never sought treatment. After starting to be more active and working out regularly, the pain was intense to the point normal walking was very uncomfortable and I could not work out like I wanted to. I finally sought out treatment and was fairly discouraged after my MRI that there was not a more specific diagnosis. I was referred to Peak Performance and was extremely skeptical that PT would help my situation. My mind was instantly changed after my first visit when Andrew was able to determine that my knee pain was related to my IT band. I finally saw light at the end of the tunnel after receiving his diagnosis! After working the program Andrew gave me, I am now able to perform normal daily activities virtually pain free, and am regularly working out 4 to 5 times a week. I have my occasional flare-up, but now feel I have the tools to know how to alleviate the pain. Thank you, Andrew! Sarah Rosenberg
  2. I started with Peak Performance due to shin splints when I joined Fleet Feet’s running program. I’ve always battled shin splints and they usually made me stop my running program, but I was determined to beat them this time. With targeted strength and balance exercises provided with Karen’s guidance, I’ve been able to strengthen and adjust my running form to be able to run pain free now for the first time in years! 3. I am 71 and still run. For the last year, during races and training runs, especially long ones, I was having knee pain around mile 7. As the race progressed, I eventually had to drop back to walking. I ran through 2 halves and a full marathon with that. My chiropractor finally determined it was IT band issues and recommended Peak Performance. I started working with Andrew and Margaret at the beginning of March, doing stretches and strengthening exercises. They gradually increased the variety of both and finally added weights to the strength exercises. Andrew was especially helpful because he is also a runner and understood my issues. He examined my shoes and inserts and put inserts under both feet. My first race since seeing Andrew was in early April: a 10-mile race in Washington, D.C. I ran my strongest race in more than a year! I had no IT band issues and no knee pain. I cannot say enough about the support and knowledge that Andrew and Margaret gave me! I will be training for another marathon this fall and the exercises they designed for me are now an integral part of my training and workouts. ~ Kathleen Fuller May 8, 2019

  5. I have been a distance runner for 14 years. After my last marathon, I was experiencing terrible back pain and was unable to run. I came to see Allison and she helped me pinpoint what I needed to strengthen. She also helped me develop a strength program specific to my body. I have integrated it into my weekly training and it has been life changing! I’m back to running and will be training for the Marine Corps Marathon in October and have a BQ in my sight! Megan H. 6. My experience at Peak Performance Physical Therapy has been great! Before coming here, I couldn’t play soccer, run or even walk like I could before. Now I am fully healed and can perform even better than I could prior to coming to Peak. Thanks, Karen! Janelle E. February 8, 2018
  7. For over 20 years, running has been my beloved hobby, both for fitness and stress relief. Last year, I ran a half marathon and the increased mileage involved in training caused arthritis in my right knee. I started coming to Peak Performance for help. Mike was able to identify problems with my feet and hips that were contributing to my knee issues. Eventually he introduced strengthening and speed exercises to my program to get my legs back into shape for running. Mike is a great listener and is able to interpret my descriptions of my pain or limitations even when I don’t know the best vocabulary. He is patient and attentive while making sure my form is correct. His knowledge and experience and his ability to teach me how to care for my knee have helped me tremendously. I am back to doing everyday tasks like housework and gardening without pain, and I am slowly and carefully starting to run again. I have been very happy with my progress and grateful for the care I have received at Peak Performance! Kara C. January 31, 2018
  8. Seeing a Peak Performance therapist is a very unique experience. I have been to many different PT clinics over my 30 plus years of competitive running. My left leg acted up/shut down after a XC race in Fall 2017 and I was diagnosed with IT band syndrome and recommended PT. I called Peak Performance and requested to work with Mike Napierala. Mike helped me tremendously! He gave me hope that I would run again. I kept up the PT for several months as Mike gave me stretches and strengthening exercises. He even made a significant change to my orthotic…a need no one else had ever picked up on. I am happy to report that I am back running and building my miles. Mike asked me my goal in running, which is to run a marathon again. He never discouraged this goal, and I now believe it will happen! I will not hesitate to call upon Peak Performance again if the need arises. It is a unique experience-very different from other PT clinics! Thanks, Mike, for making me feel so much better! 9. I came to physical therapy because of a sharp pain in my knee that prevented me from running. That was a huge problem, because I run cross country. My experience at Peak Performance was enjoyable as well as helpful. I now am running every day again and feel no pain in my knee. My legs feel stronger than ever, and I hope to help my team with sectionals this year! Jake M. September 18, 2017
  10. After surgery on my left meniscus, I had very limited range of motion and strength. I started PT with Andrew and he gave me hope that I would regain full function and get back into my weight routine and jogging. In the beginning, I didn’t really believe I would ever jog again. Andrew slowly worked with me on exercises for my knee and also helped me with lower back issues. He challenged me but made sure I didn’t work past pain. Andrew has a pleasant and patient way about him. I really like how clearly he explained each exercise to me. I hope I don’t need additional therapy, but if I do, I will surely be back and request Andrew! Catherine R. June 6, 2017
  11. I’ve been running competitively for 40 years. Last year, I came to Peak Performance with high hamstring tendinopathy. Mike took a methodical approach, with measurements, along the way. He was a willing, interested partner in my diagnosis and pushed me to “be” better, and not just “feel” better. I am now back to full-scale competitive running, including speed work. Peak Performance, and Mike in particular, has allowed me to continue to function at a high level, pursuing lifelong aspirations. I can’t thank Mike enough. He's helped me many times over the years, this one being the longest, most frustrating rehab. I wouldn’t have gotten through it without him. David B.
  12. Before I came to Peak Performance, I was having trouble running at all. I was used to running 6-8 miles a day, and by the time I started coming, just 100 yards was very painful. Right now I am back running and building my endurance back up to be in racing shape. Overall, I feel much better and I am back to doing everything I love doing. Peak Performance has helped me recover, get stronger, and get back on my feet! Sarah Henretta December 28, 2016
  13. Before coming to physical therapy, I had trouble with the activities I enjoy doing most. I couldn’t run as far or as fast as I wanted without pain, and my ability to run slowly started to drop to the point where I couldn’t go on a run. I started at Peak Performance with inflexibility in my Achilles and stress reactions in both my shins. After a couple months at PT, I am back to running better than ever and have more motion/flexibility in places I didn’t before! Claire Powell December 27, 2016
