  1. I visited Peak Performance to help with a nagging calf injury. I worked with Karen for one month. It was a comfortable environment and Karen was truly knowledgeable and helpful. We worked on gaining flexibility and strength in the calf, and I’m now able to run pain free and more confidently. This helped with my injury, and I also anticipate that the exercises will help with future injury prevention. Thanks, Karen! ~ Matthew Cassavaugh June 3, 2019
  2. Before coming to Peak, any slight running, no matter the activity, would cause pain in my ankles, shins and knees. After just a few weeks of working with Andrew and company, I was able to do my favorite activities with little to no pain. Now I can do just about anything with no pain and all thanks to Andrew, Margaret and Jenna (his interns) for helping me to get to where I am. ~ William Rauber May 4, 2019
  3. I was treated for pain in my right foot and a small stress fracture to my ankle. I started in the fall with limited ability to even stand without pain. Now I am able to run and work out daily. I am still making progress every day. With Allison’s direction and encouragement, and my hard work, I have gained strength in my calfs, ankles and legs. Allison has helped me realize a lot about my body and has given me so much advice and exercises that I will continue to work on. I’ve learned that this is a process and to never give up. Thanks, Allison, for helping me turn this around! Natalie Memmel May 7, 2019
  4. Before I came in I was having trouble walking, going up stairs and playing lacrosse. I tweaked my calf during my first lacrosse game. I was upset because I didn’t want to miss out on my senior lacrosse season. Mike was excellent. He helped me to understand that it was better to take a few games off early than to miss the second half of the season. Mike and Rachele helped me to get my strength and motion back. I was back and better than ever in less than two weeks. Thank you to Mike, Rachele and everyone at Peak Performance for getting me back to my senior season! Margaret “Maggie” Vay April 29, 2019
  5. I came to Peak Performance after struggling for years with tight muscles on my right side in my legs and gluts. I was having difficulty sleeping and sometimes was very uncomfortable at work. There was no specific instance that caused it or made it worse. Mike measured and observed week after week and gave me stretches and exercises. He also did some mobility hands-on work. Eventually, we were able to decrease and manage the pain. Mike has superpower abilities and the persistence to identify root causes and provide targeted stretches and strength exercises to improve it. He does not rely on formulas to solve issues and he constantly progressed me to the next level. My goals were to keep the pain managed, sleep better and to keep doing the sports I love, such as racing dinghy sailboats, riding my bike, hiking and working out to stay strong. I’m 55 years old and I sit all day at work. Keeping fit is a high priority in my week so I can play on weekends. Now that I’ve “graduated” from Peak Performance, I have a series of things I do regularly to keep myself as pain free as possible. I highly recommend Mike and his team at Peak Performance. They are game changers! ~ Mary Ellen Brown
  6. I have had calf “tweaks” a couple times a year. Got one in December and decided to try and get some professional guidance on both getting it well, and more importantly getting a process for maintenance. Got referred to Mike by a friend. I’ve played sports most of my life, and other than a few rolled ankles, have been fortunate to be mostly injury free…so wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Decided to trust the process. Worked mainly with Mike, and a bit with Rachele. They are very knowledgeable, and this gave me the confidence to be “all in.” I now feel much more educated and confident in how to stretch and maintain my legs. I played in the Oak Hill Paddle tourney. Four matches, probably five plus hours of court time….legs held up well and we won the tournament! I feel better, more confident, more prepared, and now have a process to maintain and work through any temporary setbacks. Brett C. February 4, 2019
  7. In December 2017, I broke my tibial plateau on my left leg skiing at age 72. The healing process took 12 weeks, with no weight on that leg. All my muscles in my left leg weakened. After the 12-week healing process, I started PT with Allison at Peak Performance. She started with exercises that worked to increase my range of motion and flexibility in the leg. She made sure that I did not overdo but achieved the maximum possible stretch that my leg could safely take. Her knowledge of what muscles and ligaments needed to be worked and in what order was spot on. The stretches and exercises were simple enough that I could do them at home to promote the process. Each week new exercises were added and the old exercises were enhanced to gradually increase the range back to normal. During this rehab time we also determined what to work on to balance the functions between both legs so this year I am a better skier than last year! Allison’s knowledge of physical therapy is immense, and she has an impressive ability to provide the right exercise at the right time for a fun and safe recovery. I’m looking forward to this 2018-2019 ski season! Harry “Bud” Krayer
  8. I came to Peak Performance with pain in my front thigh, after being diagnosed with a protruding disc. I had also started to experience increasing weakness after a total hip replacement 9 months before. Walking up stairs was very difficult. Working with Karen again has been wonderful! She reassesses my pain every time I come in and constantly changes my program to fit my changes in pain and strength. Karen is good at looking at everything, not just the area of pain. I can now climb stairs with ease, and I do so every day at work! I’m doing lots of walking outside and will be joining some yoga and Zumba classes soon. Karen has improved my quality of life tremendously! Martha Manz October 31, 2018
  9. Before PT, I had trouble walking more than a short distance, pulling my foot back to take off my shoe, and also some difficulty with balance. Now I have only slight trouble on my two-mile walks and no difficulty on the short ones! I don’t have any problem taking off my shoe, and my balance is much better. I have no difficulty at all with normal activities. The strengthening exercises Mike designed for me have helped and I will keep doing them. Mike and Rachele have been terrific! Very helpful at getting me stronger. And the staff is very friendly. J Helen T. September 19, 2018
  10. A partial tear of the Achilles tendon and gastronemus muscle made competitive squash impossible and rehab necessary to possibly return to competition. Mike created a rehab program that not only allowed repair of the calf area, but strengthened the entire lower leg structure to now allow my return to doubles squash. Richard R. February 28, 2018
  11. Seeing a Peak Performance therapist is a very unique experience. I have been to many different PT clinics over my 30 plus years of competitive running. My left leg acted up/shut down after a XC race in Fall 2017 and I was diagnosed with IT band syndrome and recommended PT. I called Peak Performance and requested to work with Mike Napierala. Mike helped me tremendously! He gave me hope that I would run again. I kept up the PT for several months as Mike gave me stretches and strengthening exercises. He even made a significant change to my orthotic…a need no one else had ever picked up on. I am happy to report that I am back running and building my miles. Mike asked me my goal in running, which is to run a marathon again. He never discouraged this goal, and I now believe it will happen! I will not hesitate to call upon Peak Performance again if the need arises. It is a unique experience-very different from other PT clinics! Thanks, Mike, for making me feel so much better! Beth Anne D. January 29, 2018
  12. My experience here was great and I noticed a big difference with the pain in my back and leg. I noticed I am able to walk longer without the pain acting up and I feel like I have more flexibility in my body. Natalie P. January 17, 2018
  13. I was very stiff while recovering from a broken leg. I found that I was able to move more easily after just a couple of treatments with Karen. Karen was so helpful and worked wonders on me! Nora R. December 18, 2017
  14. When I broke my leg I was out of my favorite activities and it was frustrating to watch my friends enjoy sports without me. Peak Performance helped me strengthen and gain back my motion and eventually play sports again. Mike is a great therapist and helped me back into my favorite sports such as volleyball. It was a great experience! Massimo W. November 27, 2017
  15. My name is Joe R. and I badly injured my leg in September. I was in a full leg cast for a month, and after that I could not even bend my leg. Someone I knew had gone here and I wanted to try it out. The staff here was very nice and cared about getting my leg back to normal. Andrew put up with me and helped me get my leg to function normally again. My leg feels great and I can run regularly now. I am fully back to normal and I can thank Andrew and the Peak PT staff for that. Thanks, Andrew! Joe R.
  16. When I first came to Peak, I had pain in my left leg and limited movement. Over the course of my PT, Karen showed me the exercises that would overcome my pain and limited movement. I can’t thank her enough! Richard R. September 6, 2017
  17. I came because of leg pain, sometimes hip, groin and low back pain, that occurred on and off for years. The assumption was the issue stemmed from my back. Although chiropractor visits sometimes helped, I needed more. I appreciated Mike’s complete attention to detail. He spent the first visits trying to understand (by talking and testing) what the cause of the problem was. As time went on, he helped me understand motions I should/could do vs. those I shouldn’t. He taught me stretches to help when pain occurred and strengthening techniques to help my body use the right muscles, not rely on the wrong ones (such as back). He is sending me off now to use exercises that should help keep me pain free more often, and stretches to use when I have pain. He also made adjustments to my orthotics and answered many questions along the way. My PT experience was what I was looking for: help me understand the cause of my pain and understand what to do to keep it at bay! My pain is much less frequent now and I have the tools to use if I do have pain. Lisa Lanzillo Coon October 21, 2016
  18. I had an Achilles injury, causing pain with everyday activities. Through a series of new stretching and stability exercises over a period of six weeks, this pain and all challenges with normal daily activities were addressed. At the end, I was able to set personal records for ankle motion and strength, along with improved overall leg flexibility. Next in line is to strengthen the legs for ski season! Thanks Mike and staff for your support. Michael M. November 1, 2016
  19. My ability to walk my dog for periods of time more than 20 minutes became quite difficult. I felt as though my body (in general) and especially my legs were dragging. I became very aware of also becoming quite stooped, which was distressing because I am normally a very active woman for my age. I am realizing real improvement since beginning with Karen. She is so patient, easy to talk to and a pleasure to work with. Thank you, Karen! Barbara R. October 20, 2016
  20. Before PT I couldn't sprint or shoot with my right leg. I couldn't do drills with my team or even the warm up. Now I can scrimmage and run at full speed with my team! Taylor P. August 24, 2016
