  2. I was treated for pain in my right foot and a small stress fracture to my ankle. I started in the fall with limited ability to even stand without pain. Now I am able to run and work out daily. I am still making progress every day. With Allison’s direction and encouragement, and my hard work, I have gained strength in my calfs, ankles and legs. Allison has helped me realize a lot about my body and has given me so much advice and exercises that I will continue to work on. I’ve learned that this is a process and to never give up.   3. I had surgery on my left foot 4 years ago and had hardware placed inside. I frequently found myself injuring that foot, especially when exercising and dancing.   4. Before PT, I had trouble walking more than a short distance, pulling my foot back to take off my shoe, and also some difficulty with balance. Now I have only slight trouble on my two-mile walks and no difficulty on the short ones! I don’t have any problem taking off my shoe, and my balance is much better. I have no difficulty at all with normal activities. The strengthening exercises Mike designed for me have helped and I will keep doing them. Mike and Rachele have been terrific!   5. When I first came to Peak Performance, I came in with a heel spur and plantar fasciitis in my left foot. I wasn’t able to walk for long distances or do my favorite activity, running. Allison brought me through various strength and stretching exercises along with agility testing. Slowly but surely, I got stronger. I remember when Allison gave me the go ahead to start intervals (5 minutes to start) and her saying “I’ve never seen anyone with such a huge smile on their face.” Everyone doing PT stopped and looked and everyone said they wanted to be like me! So I told them that if you follow your PT’s instructions and put in the work, you will get there. I couldn’t have done it without Allison’s help; thanks again, Allison!
  6. My story at Peak Performance is remarkable. I had plantar fasciitis and tremendous, overwhelming pain. Mike calmly worked with me and he never gave up on me. He would push me and boost my confidence. Balance is a colossal challenge for me. Now I have more stamina and dedication to take care of my body and wear the appropriate shoes to help me feel 100% again.   7. I came to Peak Performance after having foot surgery. At the time, I enjoyed running but was not able to run, due to the pain. Throughout my experience I learned stretches and exercises that helped strengthen my foot. Slowly I began to regain my full strength and resume my favorite activities. The environment at Peak is very warm, comforting and welcoming. This was not my first time at Peak…4 years ago I came in for a broken leg, and Mike helped me get off my crutches and back to normal. I was so glad that I came back here. If I ever have another injury, I will come back again. I would 100% recommend anyone with an orthopedic problem to come to Peak Performance. Myles V.   8. I had knee surgery two years ago and recently reinjured my knee stepping back off some stairs. Karen and Allison helped me with orthotic buildups to reorient my foot and ankle, which helped with knee alignment.   9. I came to Peak Performance because of tendon pain in one foot. Andrew did measurements of my ankle flexibility and strength. Within two visits, my pain decreased dramatically. A few visits after that, I was pain free. What a relief! Why did I wait so long to come to Peak Performance for help? My everyday activities are so much easier.   10. I was born with spina bifida and my left foot and ankle are numb; because of this, I had a lot of weakness in my leg. I play drums at my church and youth group and wanted to improve my speed in my left foot to get better and faster. I also had a lot of trouble walking and sort of walked with a limp. Karen was very knowledgeable and helped me a lot. I’ve noticed that my leg has strengthened, my balance is better, and my foot speed is better.   11. Before coming to Peak Performance, any walking and prolonged standing was very painful due to plantar fasciitis. After working with Karen, my pain was cut in half in just the first two weeks!   12. When I strained a tendon in my foot at soccer practice, I couldn’t even walk off of the field. My teammates had to carry me off. After limping around at school for a couple of weeks, I came to see Mike Napierala at Peak Performance and he set me on the right track. I started off in a walking boot for almost 2 months and from there, Mike helped me progress all the way back to running on the field again. It was a long road to recovery that involved a lot of hard work, but I couldn’t have done it without Mike. I’m now almost fully ready to take on my last varsity soccer season with all that I’ve got.   13. My doctor highly recommended that I go to Peak Performance to help me in my recovery from PTTD (Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction). There was significant discomfort and weakness in my ankle and the arch of my foot, making it a painful challenge to walk or stand for any period of time. Andrew and Peak Performance came through for me with flying colors. Andrew provided many helpful exercises and techniques that strengthen my ankle and significantly improve my mobility.   14. I came to Peak Performance 5 years ago for a knee problem. I improved significantly and was able to do daily activities pain free! When I had a foot injury this summer, I knew I wanted to come back to Peak Performance. In only a few months, Andrew helped me from crutches to being completely pain free!   16. My experience with Peak Performance Physical Therapy was exceptional. Not only did Mike Napierala work with me to heal a number of my injuries, but he changed my outlook on training and staying healthy. Season-ending running injuries originally brought me to Peak Performance in 2014. Since then, the Peak Performance staff has worked with me through numerous injuries resulting from running, lifting, and paddleboarding. No matter what type of sports-related issue hampered my activities, Mike and the PTs were always able to put me back on my feet. Despite foot problems that once prevented me from running completely, in addition to damaged discs in my back, I am now able to run and paddleboard again. Mike really comprehends the mind of a goal-oriented athlete, which helped me tremendously. He understood how difficult it was for me to be unable to train, and provided not only physical therapy, but encouragement to keep me positive. This made a huge difference in my recovery. As a coach, I know that every athlete is different, and requires an individual training plan tailored to his/her needs in order to be successful. This is exactly what I received at Peak Performance!   17. Peak Performance has been a wonderful experience. When I first came, I had been having severe foot pain for over 2 months that a podiatrist had attempted to help with. After only one week working with Karen, I had significantly less pain. I felt so encouraged and finally had hope that my foot would get better. I loved how Karen considered all my previous injuries and helped me to improve my whole hip, leg , and foot function. Now two months later, I am pain free and back to doing all the things I love.   18. I have come a long way since I had come to PPPT. Mike was able to give me therapy for my cerebral palsy to strengthen my shoulder, leg, and foot. He was the first therapist to improve my collapsed knee, loosen my left shoulder and foot. He also helped with walking and a stronger stride. I will continue to work all the exercises every day and come back if I need to in the future. All the therapy has contributed to my overall health and well- being.” Karen Somer
